Fuel/Process Design

Designed Process Fluid and Fuel Facilities

Design of a new service fluid or fuel facility or updating an existing facility is a complex enterprise, and requires accuracy in both design and the components of the system so that they will meet the Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA) and Ministry of the Environment Conservation and Parks (MECP) regulatory requirements, as well as the municipal codes and the client’s needs. The focus of the design and installation is to meet or exceed regulatory standards and guidelines to provide a quality installation.

Design

The design of a facility begins by collaboration with the client to determine the business needs of the facility, and then to engineer a facility that is approved by the client while at the same time, meeting all regulatory requirements. Product selection is chosen based on client’s needs and budget as well as products approved by the Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA) Fuels Safety Branch for the Province of Ontario. Comco Canada Ltd. provides a detailed installation proposal that gives our client a timeline of completion, cost and a detailed scope of the work to be completed. Once the installation proposal is approved by the client, Comco begins application processes on behalf of the client to the TSSA to obtain approval when necessary.

Once drawings are approved, installation of the system can commence. Installation of the system can be completed by Comco’s trained and licensed staff of Petroleum Mechanics and Electricians or oversight can be provided of other contractors preforming the work.  Inspections and engineering review during the construction process are carried out to meet client requirements.

Upon completion of the facility, Comco ensures that all appropriate testing is completed to allow our clients to commission the facility with minimum delay and highest quality. Such testing includes but is not limited to:

  • Pressure testing of tank and product lines.
  • Testing of fluid measuring devices.
  • Cathodic Protection Certification.
  • Hydrostatic Containment Testing.
  • Electrical Safety Authority Inspection.
  • Hydrostatic Line Testing.
  • Testing of all components such as: STPs, piston pumps, Dispensers/pumps etc.
  • Final TSSA Inspection.
